Git backups: how often, and how to restore

Every repository in Belov Git is backed up automatically — every branch, every tag and the full history — encrypted and stored away from the Git server itself. How often depends on your hosting plan, and restoring needs nothing but Git.

  1. Front
Weekly, keeping the last 4 backups.
  2. Pro and Full-stack
    Daily, keeping 14 days.
  3. Scale
    Daily, keeping 30 days.

A repository that hasn't changed since its last backup isn't copied again — its latest backup is still exactly your code. Each backup is a git bundle: one file holding the whole repository. Issues, pull requests and settings live in the Git service itself and are covered by our own nightly backup of the whole service.

  1. Download
On the panel's Git page, each repository shows its latest backup with a download link.
  2. Restore
Clone the file like any repository, then push it wherever you need it — back into Belov Git under a new name, or anywhere else.
Restore a downloaded backup
git clone my-project-2026-10-17.bundle my-project
cd my-project
git remote set-url origin git@git.belov.cloud:your-org/my-project-restored.git
git push origin --all
git push origin --tags

Backups, staging and one-click restore for your sites, too — on every plan.
